The Saturday match in the Jelenia Góra regional league between newly promoted IV-league side BKS Bolesławiec and Lotnik Jeżów Sudecki could be summed up as follows: a draw was within reach. But let’s take it from the beginning. In the 11th minute, the hosts took the lead. After Piotr Skiba’s shot, BKS led 1–0. Unfortunately, the visitors equalised shortly afterwards. It looked as though taking the lead had caused some relaxation to creep into the Bolesławiec team. The defence and goalkeeper failed to understand each other, and Damian Gorgul ruthlessly took advantage, winning the ball and sending it into an empty net. Before the players went into the dressing room for half-time, Lotnik added a second goal. It was what is known as a dressing-room goal. This time, after Krzysztof Białkowski’s header, the ball lobbed over the BKS goalkeeper and found the net.

After the break, BKS set about making up the deficit. Unfortunately, Karol Borowski had to leave the pitch in the second half. The player received his second yellow card of the match… Despite being a player down, Bolesławiec continued determinedly to seek an equaliser. They finally succeeded in the last 15 minutes of the match. A goalmouth scramble was then effectively finished by Adrian Kulesza, making it 2–2.

The match was decided in the closing stages. Playing with 10 men, BKS defended the draw and it seemed the game would end with the points shared. Unfortunately, a few minutes before the final whistle, Jakub Kowalonek suffered a serious knee injury. The player was carried off the pitch and taken to hospital by ambulance. BKS played the final stages with nine men. The visitors took advantage of their numerical superiority. Tomasz Madej scored the goal worth three points. The referee ended the match immediately after play restarted.

After the match, the Lotnik players formed a guard of honour and congratulated BKS on securing promotion to the IV league. It was a very nice gesture from the club from Jeżów Sudecki. Only after these congratulations did Lotnik begin celebrating Saturday’s victory.
