Police officers from the Juvenile and Pathology Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra identified a 13-year-old student at one of Jelenia Góra’s primary schools and then charged him with defaming public officials.

Two teachers at one of the primary schools in Jelenia Góra filed a report concerning their defamation. It turned out that on 25 February this year, someone had posted a comment on the school’s profile that harmed their good name and discredited them as teachers.

While carrying out activities in the case, police established that the defamatory comment about the teachers had been posted by a 13-year-old student at the school. The minor explained that he had not thought through his behaviour when writing it. A family court will now decide the boy’s future.

We remind you that defaming public officials while they are performing their official duties or in connection with those duties is a crime. This offence is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to one year.
