On Thursday, 17 February, a conference of Piotr Borys, a Member of Parliament from the Civic Coalition, was held in Bolesławiec. The MP appeared in Bolesławiec in connection with a request to intervene in the matter of the unequal treatment of KGHM retirees and pensioners. The issue concerns payment of the so-called allowance, which in the case of retirees from the old mining region near Bolesławiec (Konrad mine) is PLN 1,199 lower than in the case of mining retirees from other KGHM mines.

Several retired miners also attended the conference.

Watch the conference:

MP Piotr Borys:

We are here with retirees from the mining region, the former ZG Konrad, the old mining region where copper mining began. More than 1,000 retirees, as well as people who have inherited the entitlement—mainly family members of those who have already died and who were assigned to the ZG Lubin branch—have been wronged. Many people who feel wronged have contacted me because the payment of the so-called coal allowance this year is nearly PLN 1,200 lower for all ZG Lubin retirees, including those from the former Konrad, than for all other retirees who worked and are associated, for example, with ZG Sieroszowice or Rudna. This is one plant, one KGHM, one conglomerate. PLN 1,200 is a great deal for a retiree, especially given today’s high prices.

I submitted the relevant letters. On behalf of 1,000 people, we are appealing to the president and the authorities of KGHM to resolve this problem. This initiative must end positively. These people built Polska Miedź.
