Despite the announcement by former Finance Minister Tadeusz Kościński, that there would be no 14th pension this year, the government has just announced that it will in fact be paid—and in autumn. As we read on the Facebook profile of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki:

Concern for seniors is the highest priority for my government and Law and Justice. Their sacrifice for Poland during World War II and the Polish People’s Republic, and later during the democratic transition, deserves the highest recognition and support. Support that was lacking for a long time, but since 2015, thanks to the dignity revolution we carried out, fortunately much has changed!

What does this mean for pensioners and disability-benefit recipients?

Prime Minister:

Today we are introducing further support measures. They are:

  • A 7% pension indexation. This is the record increase in benefits over the past 20 years.
  • A 14th pension, which will be paid in autumn 2022.

He added: “In total, the income of a pensioner receiving the minimum pension will increase by 85% compared with 2015, while for an average pension it will increase by 55%. This year, pensioners and disability-benefit recipients will receive as much as PLN 18.4 billion more!”
