During Wednesday’s session of the Bolesławiec City Council, attended by the directors of both of our hospitals, the head of the county Kamil Barczyk spoke, among other things, about the facility’s investments:

Over the past year, our landmark investment was carried out: the construction of a modular hospital.

He also added:

Unfortunately, we are seeing a repeat of the previous waves. The entire building will already be converted today into a hospital for COVID-19 patients.

Asked for details, K. Barczyk added:

The data reaching us indicate that we will face a situation analogous to the one during the third wave.

Will any of the departments be closed?

– We want as many departments as possible to continue operating. Our plan is for all surgical departments, including the pediatric departments, to remain operational – the head of the Bolesławiec ZOZ assured the council members.

The neurology subunit has already been out of operation since last week. This week, the internal medicine department will be converted into a COVID ward. Next week, the Bolesławiec hospital plans to prepare another 70 COVID beds. The aim is for the facility to have a total of as many as 150 beds for people infected with coronavirus, along with a dozen or so ventilator beds. This would make it possible to avoid closing additional departments. As K. Barczyk added:

There is a dramatic shortage of COVID beds in Lower Silesia.
