On the last weekend of February, a Polish Cadet Championship round-of-16 tournament was held in Nowa Sól. On Friday, TOP played against the second runner-up of the Śląskie Voivodeship (MKS Wodzisław Śląski). The match began with a 22-point defeat for the women from Bolesławiec. The situation changed in the following sets. TOP defeated their opponents in three consecutive sets and won the match 3:1. It was already clear then that one more victory would be enough to qualify. The TOP volleyball players had a chance on Saturday, in a match against the second team from the Opolskie Voivodeship.
Saturday’s match was very tight. Unfortunately, the volleyball players from Kędzierzyn-Koźle emerged victorious. MMKS Kędzierzyn Koźle defeated TOP 3:1. Our team’s qualification was decided on Sunday. After the rather surprising victory of the volleyball players from Wodzisław Śląski over the team from Kędzierzyn-Koźle (3:2), it turned out that, to qualify, Bolesławiec had to defeat the tournament hosts, Ares Nowa Sól, without losing a set. They succeeded. TOP’s cadets defeated the team from Nowa Sól 25:17, 25:18 and 25:15. The victory secured second place in the standings for our volleyball players and a place in the next stage of the Polish Championship.
TOP Bolesławiec’s volleyball team played in the following lineup: Paulina Kopeć, Katarzyna Segiet, Edyta Szewczuk, Sylwia Duru, Dorota Medyńska, Dorota Burdyna, Zofia Lenkiewicz, Dominika Mienculewicz, Partycja Drążkiewicz, Katarzyna Melko. Coaches: Tomasz Medyński, Marek Szewczuk.
The Polish Cadet Championship quarterfinal tournament will take place on March 26–28 in Piła. The young volleyball players of PTPS Piła, MKS Polonia Świdnica, KS Pałac Bydgoszcz and TOP Bolesławiec will compete for two places offering qualification to the semifinals.
