During the National Allotment Gardeners’ Days, the largest celebration of the allotment gardening movement, the winners of the “ROD 40th Anniversary of PZD” competition were presented. (The aim of the competition is to recognize family allotment gardens whose activities have contributed to maintaining and developing the tradition of allotment gardens in Poland, as well as genuinely promoting the importance and role of the allotment gardening movement and the Polish Association of Allotment Gardeners in society.)

Among those honored was the “Tulipan” ROD from Bolesławiec. “We are very proud of the recognition received by our garden, which was among the thirty acknowledged across the country,” says Jerzy Zając, head of the aforementioned ROD. “All the allotment gardeners, the entire community of the ‘Tulipan’ garden, worked for this distinction.”

It is worth adding that this year’s National Allotment Gardeners’ Days also provided an opportunity to honor activists who have made distinguished contributions to the common good. Jerzy Zając was awarded the Bene Meritus medal.
