Dariusz Kwaśniewski was elected chairman of the Civic Platform’s municipal branch and was officially recommended by the party as its candidate for mayor. Kwaśniewski would like to reach people who support Civic Platform but are tired of political showmanship and disappointed or discouraged by Piotr Roman’s administration.

The Civic Platform candidate intends to conduct his campaign as a strategist, not as a Hun chieftain who will destroy his opponents with a horde of savages. It is to be a game of chess, not bloody games. Of course, Kwaśniewski points out that it is impossible to predict what will happen during the campaign. He believes that he will face Piotr Roman in the second round. He speaks of the current mayor with respect, but also with confidence in his own victory.

Piotr Roman also declared to us today that he is running in the election:
– Yes, I am considering running in the election. I congratulate Dariusz Kwaśniewski on receiving the trust and being selected by Civic Platform. I think congratulations are in order, but at the same time, for obvious reasons, I do not wish him success. I treat all candidates not as opponents, but as competitors. I would like the electoral contest to be fair; however, we will see what happens. I am not surprised by Dariusz Kwaśniewski’s candidacy, because it had already been discussed, including on internet portals. Kwaśniewski is a significant figure in the County.

Asked whether the mayor was satisfied with the results of the survey conducted on our portal, Piotr Roman replied:
– It is very pleasing that readers of the IstotneInformacje.pl portal are voting for me. There is still plenty of time. I have eight or nine months of hard work ahead of me.

In view of the declarations by the two most serious candidates for mayor, it can safely be said that the official campaign began today. We will keep our readers informed about its progress.
