The most snow fell in the area of Szklarska Poręba. The snow cover on Szrenica is up to 120 cm deep, while thermometers there show -10 degrees Celsius. In the lower parts of the mountains, the snow layer reaches 45 cm. Conditions for skiers are good throughout the Karkonosze Mountains. Most drag lifts are operating.
For tourists, the most dangerous areas are the so-called "glacial cirques." Due to the fourth avalanche danger level, GOPR rescuers advise against hiking in the higher parts of the mountains. Hiking is relatively safe below the upper tree line.
