On Saturday, 21 August, BKS Bolesławiec’s senior team played an away match in Zgorzelec. After the big win against Twardy Świętoszów, the match against Nysa ended with a narrow 1–0 (0–0) victory for the Bolesławiec side. The goal worth three points was scored by Karol Borowski.
Saturday’s match was played at a fast pace and was highly competitive. Both BKS Bolesławiec and Nysa Zgorzelec wanted to take all three points, and this was evident on the pitch. The first half belonged to our team. Coach Sebastian Tylutki’s side controlled the midfield and created several chances to score, but lacked precision and effective finishing. The hosts focused on defence and did so very effectively, as the score was goalless at half-time.
BKS wins in Zgorzelec
After the change of ends, the pattern of play changed little. The match was even and it seemed that it might end with the points being shared. In the 71st minute, an incident occurred that, as it later turned out, had a decisive impact on the final result. After a scramble in Nysa Zgorzelec’s penalty area, the ball ended up 25 metres from the goal, where Karol Borowski reached it. The young BKS defender unleashed a thunderous long-range shot, and the ball went in just inside the post of the hosts’ goal to give us a 1–0 lead. The conceded goal inspired Nysa, who from that moment took the initiative and repeatedly attacked our goal. Fortunately, Dawid Kizyma was in excellent form that day and saved us several times with his spectacular stops (on one occasion, the ball bounced off our crossbar). Ultimately, the match ended in a 1–0 victory for BKS Bolesławiec.
Our team will play its next league match next Saturday at Spółdzielcza against Górnik Węgliniec (28 August, 12:00), while on Wednesday we face an away match in the second round of the Polish Regional Cup against GKS Warta Bolesławiecka (25 August, 17:00).
