– During an inspection on the A4 motorway, KAS officers detected an illegal shipment of waste to Poland. KAS prevented the import of nearly 24 tonnes of used electrical coils – reports Sebastian Polański from the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration.
He adds:
The Polish recipient of the goods did not have the required permit to process the waste and was unable to recover or dispose of it in accordance with EU regulations. The trailer and cargo were seized for the criminal proceedings.
The driver refused to accept the penalty notice, and the case was referred to court. The spokesperson said: – The carrier faces a fine of PLN 13,000, while the recipient faces between PLN 50,000 and PLN 500,000.
