On Thursday, July 8, the following information appeared on the Facebook profile of the club Leśnik Osiecznica:
Radosław Szajwaj is no longer serving as coach of Leśnik Osiecznica’s first team.
The entire board thanks the coach for his work at our Club.
We all wish him success in his further coaching career!
On the same day, information about the new coach of Łużyce Lubań appeared on the Lubań club’s website:
The position of coach of our Club’s first team remained vacant for less than five days. After brief but fruitful talks, Radosław Szajwaj, until now the coach of Leśnik Osiecznica, will become the new senior-team coach. Last season, he led the team to sixth place in the Lower Silesian fourth division (western group).
Let us recall that a few days ago, Łużyce parted ways with coach Jarosław Wichowski, under whom the Lubań team secured promotion.
The istotne.pl portal asked coach Radosław Szajwaj to comment on the decision he had made. Here is what he told us:
In the coaching profession, you have to make quick decisions. The job offer from Lubań, the club’s vision, its goals, the entire sports infrastructure and the youth groups competing in the highest leagues represent an opportunity for growth for me. As in every club, there is a lot to do, but we want to move forward in small steps. Łużyce’s promotion was a result, not a goal, which is why we are starting from a different position than the rest.
It was a difficult, quick and courageous decision. I am not afraid of challenges; I want to build football in Lubań, and I hope that the support of my loved ones, former and new players, and other coaches will help me adapt well and quickly to the new club.
I must also mention that Leśnik gave me many wonderful moments and memories—those on the pitch, but especially those off it. Many thanks to the officials, fans and players for everything!
Radosław Szajwaj, 32, who comes from Bolesławiec, began his football journey at BKS Bolesławiec. He also played for, among others, Polonia/Sparta Świdnica, WKP Odra Wrocław and Polonia Wrocław. He also appeared for German teams. As a coach, meanwhile, he led TS Parzyce to promotion to the district league.
He coached Leśnik’s senior team for three years, from 2018 to 2021, and during that time led the Osiecznica team from the A-class to the fourth division. In the recently completed season, the team finished sixth in the league table, a position that guaranteed safety.
Starting next season, coach Radosław Szajwaj will lead fourth-division Łużyce Lubań.
