Zgorzelec officers of the National Revenue Administration once again uncovered the illegal import of waste into the country. – During inspections on the A4 motorway, they prevented the illegal import into Poland of more than 24 tonnes of used industrial rubber tape – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS. – The transport was coming from Germany.
The Polish recipient of the goods named in the documents did not have the required permit to process waste and was unable to recover or dispose of it in accordance with Community regulations.
The result? The Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection declared the transport illegal. The trailer and its cargo were seized for criminal proceedings.
Spokesperson:
The driver was fined PLN 200, the carrier faces a total administrative fine of PLN 13,000, and the recipient faces a criminal fine of up to PLN 500,000.
