The incident occurred after 6:00 p.m. on Kubika Street in the centre of Bolesławiec. The driver of a passenger Audi left the road, crossed the pavement and hit a tree opposite the Children's Home. The force of the impact was so great that parts of the car were scattered within a radius of several dozen metres. The car's speedometer was reportedly stuck at approximately 100 km/h.

All emergency services were at the scene: an ambulance, the fire brigade and the police. Initial information indicates that two people were travelling in the car. One was injured and was attended to by a medical rescue team.

The driver's blood was taken for tests for the presence of intoxicating substances. Since this was a road accident, the case will ultimately be heard in court.
