County officials:
On May 8, 1945, World War II ended in Europe—a time of hatred, pain and suffering unprecedented in human history. Wartime was also marked by unprecedented resistance to evil and human suffering.
The residents of Bolesławiec remembered the victims of the war. Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak, together with representatives of the County Board, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman, County Police Commander Insp. Norbert Kurenda, Deputy County Fire Service Commander Brig. Piotr Pilarczyk, as well as representatives of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, veterans and scouts, laid flowers at the monument to the Second Polish Army.
