Officers of the National Revenue Administration from Zgorzelec stopped a lorry travelling towards Germany on the A4 motorway for inspection. “A Ukrainian national and a Romanian national were travelling in the vehicle. The travellers informed the officers that they were not carrying any goods in the vehicle. During the inspection, a compartment was discovered beneath the roof, containing cigarettes (21,300 packs) without the required excise-duty markings,” Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian National Revenue Administration, reports.

She adds:

The value of the illegal tobacco products was estimated at more than PLN 318,000. The preliminary losses to which the state treasury was exposed were estimated at PLN 403,000.

The vehicle and the goods were detained for criminal proceedings.
