A fatal accident occurred at the Rudna Mining Plant. A 51-year-old employee of the S-1 department died during blasting operations in the GG-1 area of the G-7 department.

Despite resuscitation efforts carried out by rescuers and doctors, the man could not be saved.
The deceased was a resident of Polkowice and left three children orphaned. He had worked at the Rudna Mining Plant since 2004. A commission was appointed at the mine to clarify all the circumstances of the accident. By decision of Management Board President Marcin Chludziński, a three-day mourning period was introduced at all KGHM departments.
