The fire broke out overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. Flames appeared in a single-family house before 4:00 a.m. Four people managed to evacuate the building.

The nearly 30-meter-long roof of the house was completely engulfed in flames. Several fire service units were dispatched to the scene.

“Before we arrived, the residents had left the building. A total of 8 people were evacuated,” senior captain TVN24 Sylwester Łasocha of the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec said on air. “We managed to protect the third apartment connected to the utility building. The roof and wooden ceilings partially collapsed inward.”

The police are investigating the cause of the fire.

KP PSP Bolesławiec on the incident:

On April 8, 2021, at approximately 4 a.m., the Command Post of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec received a report of a fire at a multi-family residential building in Nowe Jaroszowice. When the first fire crews arrived at the scene, it turned out that the roof of the building, which consisted of three residential units, was on fire. The building’s eight residents evacuated before the firefighters arrived and suffered no injuries. The firefighters secured the scene, applied water from firefighting lines to the burning roof, and protected the part of the building that had not yet been affected by the fire. The firefighting operation was made more difficult by heavy smoke in the building’s attic, changing weather conditions and falling snow.

Officials add:

Once the fire had been brought under control, the evacuation and securing of property that had been saved from complete destruction began. Demolition work on the burned roof structure was also undertaken. Rescue operations ended after approximately seven hours.

Six vehicles from the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec took part in the operation, along with crews from OSP Stare Jaroszowice, OSP Trzebień, OSP Czerna, OSP Ocice, OSP Warta Bolesławiecka, OSP Nowogrodziec and OSP Różyniec. In addition, the emergency power service disconnected the building’s electricity, the Police conducted investigative activities, and the Bolesławiec municipality provided transport and premises to secure the evacuated residents’ belongings.
