The incident occurred overnight from March 31 to April 1. Volunteer firefighters from Gryfów Śląski:
[...] at 00:29 we were dispatched to a passenger-car accident in the village of Wieża. The driver hit a tree, causing the car to overturn onto its side.
They added:
After arriving at the scene, we began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Unfortunately, after a long struggle, the driver died at the scene.
– According to the police’s preliminary findings, the driver of the SUV, a 45-year-old resident of Gryfów Śląski, lost control of the Mercedes, which hit a tree. The police and the prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.
