Our Reader asked us to publicize the matter. In an email to the editorial office, she wrote: “I would like someone to mention the change to the timetable to Legnica. I am a student and, like many other people, I commute to classes.” A new train timetable came into effect on 13 December this year. “The change is to our disadvantage. A large group of students comes from outside Bolesławiec. So do I. First I have to get to the town, only to wait another hour at the railway station. Buses from the villages run to Bolesławiec at around 5:30 because many people have to be at work by 6:00. We students, once we reach Bolesławiec at 5:40, have to wait until 6:31 for the train. Later, the situation repeats itself. At 8:00, children from the villages travel to schools. Buses pass through Bolesławiec before 8:00, while students have to wait until 8:44. […] It is a shame that nobody thought about us,” she added.
“In arrangements concerning the timetable, the marshal’s office must cooperate with railway operators,” explains Marta Libner-Zoniuk, press spokesperson for the Management Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. “The services from Bolesławiec towards Legnica planned in the new timetable run roughly every hour, in order to provide convenient connections for the largest possible number of passengers: pupils, students, and people commuting to work as well.”
This does not mean, however, that passengers have no influence on the train timetable. “Three timetable revisions are planned: 1 March, 1 June and 1 September. Passengers may send their comments concerning the services to the marshal’s office,” the spokesperson points out. She adds: “For technical reasons, it is not always possible to adapt the train timetable to specific bus arrivals.”
The current train timetable will remain in force until 11 December 2010.
