Early Saturday morning, the operation to extinguish the fire that had broken out in a tenement building on Żwirki i Wigury Street in Bolesławiec came to an end.
As we have already reported, the fire broke out in the attic on Friday before 11 p.m. Several fire service units took part in the rescue operation. One man who had been in the apartment where the fire occurred was injured. He was given medical assistance in an ambulance for several dozen minutes. Unfortunately, the man died.
We know that firefighters removed as many as three gas cylinders from the building, and the apartment itself was extremely cluttered.
Services from the Municipal Social Welfare Centre were at the scene to help the other residents of the tenement building. Some of them used accommodation at a hotel arranged by the city, while the rest spent the night with their families. In the morning, however, people wanted to return to their apartments.
The gas supply to the building has been cut off, and the burned apartment was secured for investigative purposes.
