At noon on Sunday, performances by bands began on the stage set up in the market square. Among those appearing were the Orbital instrumental band, Orkiestra Dęta Bolesławiec, Jutrzenka, the Canon dance group, students of the Yamaha music school, and the Wrocław-based Solas An Lae group, which demonstrated Irish dancing.
During breaks between performances, auctions were held for items donated by Bolesławiec residents. The concert and auctions were hosted by Elżbieta Tor, Adam Krajewski and Andrzej Żurek.
Tents were set up beside the stage. The smaller one offered soldiers’ pea soup, while in the larger one people could take part in a raffle, order a “singing telegram,” test Avon cosmetics or try cake prepared by students from Bolesławiec schools.
The Bolesławiec headquarters considers this year’s orchestra finale a success. More than 120 volunteers were involved in organizing the 13th finale. “I regret that this year we could not be in the hall of the General Secondary School,” Zdzisław Abramowicz, head of the Bolesławiec orchestra headquarters, told Boleslawiec.org. “People reacted very warmly and enthusiastically; there were no negative incidents. If the finale had been held in the LO hall, we would certainly have managed to collect more money,” added Zdzisław Abramowicz. However, the finale could not be held in the hall because it is not in the best condition.
The aim of this year’s Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was to raise money for the early diagnosis and treatment of various illnesses in children. According to Sunday’s data, WOŚP had already raised more than PLN 23 million.
