Eight people from Gromadka gathered to protest against the Law and Justice government. It was a spontaneous action intended to show that people in smaller towns also disagree with the current situation in Poland. Let us recall that Marta Lempart, leader of the All-Poland Women’s Strike, emphasized the importance and significance of protests in small towns in an interview with istotne.pl.

– Every authority imagines that it has places that belong to it, that are free from resistance, where no one will oppose it. The fact that they encountered the awareness that they do not know the day or hour, that no territory belongs to them, and that nowhere can they be certain there will be no resistance—it stunned them. It frightened them, and they are still afraid of it – added Marta Lempart.

The residents of Gromadka protested under the slogan: “Gromadka is a woman too. Free. Tolerant. European”! They are announcing further protests. On their Wolna Gromadka Facebook group, the authors write:

We are here to fight together for a Poland free from nationalism, fascism and intolerance. Our goal is a secular state in which everyone, regardless of gender, skin color, nationality, sexual orientation or religion, will have equal rights.
We invite everyone who shares these ideals. We will publish information here about planned activities.
