The “Preserve in Time” competition is organized by the Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji i Kształcenia Kadr in Bolesławiec and Polish-language teachers in cooperation with the Bolesławiec Senior Citizens’ Council. Students from the third grade of primary school through the third grade of secondary school may participate.

The aims of the competition include enabling young people to gain as much knowledge as possible about the inhabitants of the town and county, their interests, customs and traditions, as well as important events in which they participated; developing an interest in the history of their own family, town and region; and strengthening intergenerational bonds.

Organizers:

This year, we propose four topics to choose from, to be presented in various forms:

  1. The story of one old photograph from a family album – a creative story based on authentic events, containing all the elements typical of this type of statement. The photograph to which the work is devoted must be attached.
  2. This happened in my town (my village) when my grandmother (mother), grandfather (father)… were young – a diary entry in which the author recounts a story about an event heard from an adult and points out its causes and effects.
  3. I admire you for your wisdom and… – an interview – a conversation with an adult who inspires respect and whose life and activities are worth preserving and passing on to future generations. It must be authorized.
  4. The history of my family in memories and photographs – a literary work, preferably containing humorous elements, which concisely records the most important figures and events in the history of the family. The text should be supplemented with photographs or documents.

They add:

The first stage of the competition lasts until 18 December 2020. By that time, works written on one of the selected topics must be sent to the Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji i Kształcenia Kadr in Bolesławiec. All details can be found in the Competition Regulations, available from Polish-language teachers, in school offices or at PCEiKK in Bolesławiec. As in every competition, prizes are also предусмотрено for its participants. We therefore encourage you to take part.

Let us preserve history together! Let us stop time!
