Spice Gears Academy—LEGO robotics for children aged 4 to 16
Spice Gears is the only robotics team in Poland that is part of the international FIRST federation, which brings together 615,000 students from 95 countries and more than 40,000 teams. Spice Gears Academy (SGA) creates robotics teams throughout the country.
The federation organizes 3,000 tournaments annually in the world’s largest metropolises, including Sydney, Dubai, New York and Houston. Each year, it raises more than 80 million dollars for scholarships and grants. It is sponsored by major technology companies such as Google, NASA, Bosh, Apple, Boing and Motorola, works with more than 250,000 professional coaches and mentors, and is supported by numerous youth organizations. From now on, every child can become part of it.
The aim of Spice Gears Academy is to create as many robotics teams as possible in Central and Eastern Europe. We want to inspire as many young people as possible with a passion for robotics and new technologies, and develop in them the skills sought by major international science and technology companies.
Robotics is the future for every child, and SGA’s mission is to pass on the idea of “Steam,” combining science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Only a coherent combination of these fields enables children and young people to find solutions even in the most difficult situations and unleash the effect of exceptional synergy.
Spice Gears Academy is bringing a unique educational system—already very popular worldwide—to Poland. We create robotics teams that solve problems facing the modern world while competing against one another at the local, national and international levels. At SGA, programming skills are just as important as self-presentation, public speaking and teamwork, which are also assessed during competitions. During classes, our instructors prepare teams for participation in tournaments, including in terms of soft skills.
Learning in the spirit of “Steam” produces surprisingly good results, such as solving problems easily, preparing for adult life, running a business and building a strong position within a team. Skills such as self-confidence, openness to others’ opinions, negotiation, time management, patience, creativity and a good memory are also developed.
SGA offers a complete learning system based on three stages of development.
- DISCOVER 4–6 years old
- EXPLORE 6–10 years old
- CHALLANGE 9–16 years old
And it all starts with LEGO and having fun.
SGA graduates are already benefiting from this, working with, among others, Poland’s largest IT company, Asseco. Around the world, the first graduates of the FIRST program work for giants such as Google and NASA. Spice Gears Academy graduates also establish scientific clubs at the best universities throughout Poland.
Every child can be registered for free trial classes at the Academy via the registration form on the Academy’s website: WWW.sgacademy.pl. Places are strictly limited. Each robotics team has only 12 places! Applications are processed in the order they are received.
