Coach Dariusz Pachnik:
The championships began on Saturday with the individual race, in which Stanisław Pachnik won decisively, defeating Ignacy Słomczyński (UKS Orientuś Łódź) and the current European champion in the sprint distance, Stanisław Kurzyp (WKS Śląsk Wrocław).
On Sunday, Staś and his clubmates (since this season, he has represented UKS Orientuś Łódź) competed in the relay race. The main contenders for the gold medal were the teams from Śląsk Wrocław and Orientuś Łódź.
The competition was very even on the first leg, while on the second leg the relay team featuring Staś gained a significant advantage.
The newly crowned Polish champion ran the third leg, which concluded the race. Therefore, all he had to do was bring the lead to the finish. That is exactly what happened, and he celebrated the gold medal with his teammates!
D. Pachnik adds:
This is already Staś’s seventh and eighth medal in his career (including four championship titles). However, they are his first and second medals this season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these were the first championships! Stasiu therefore fulfilled the quota 100 percent.
And he announces:
There will be a accumulation of championship events in the autumn. One of them, on October 10–11, 2020, will be the Polish Championships in Sprint Orienteering, organized by UKS Orientpark.pl Iwiny in cooperation with MOSiR Bolesławiec. The individual race will take place in Wleń, while the sprint relays will be held in Bolesławiec. The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Mr. Cezary Przybylski, the Mayor of Bolesławiec, Mr. Piotr Roman, and the Mayor of Wleń, Mr. Artur Zych. We warmly invite you to cheer on the competitors.
