The entrance to Vena’s shop on Kościuszki Street was blocked with tape and warning signs reading “Caution, Construction Work”. This is the latest stage of the conflict between ceramic makers. Earlier, the steps were destroyed.
Sławomir Bednarczyk, president of the management board of Vena in Brzeg:
After 11:00 a.m., the employees called us to say that Mr Tyrcz had put up barriers in front of the shop bearing the sign “Caution, construction work”, preventing our customers from entering the shop. As usual, we notified the police.
These barriers are standing on a road that, of course, belongs to Mr Tyrcz, but according to the notarial deed we have and showed to the police, the road is subject to a right of way and passage, which allows us and our customers to use it.
The dispute concerns the steps, but they were already here when this land did not yet belong to Mr Tyrcz. The steps have to be here because they provide access to our shop.
We claim that these are unlawful actions connected with unfair competition. We have already filed a civil lawsuit and notified the prosecutor’s office. It is not only about the steps, but also about threats: Mr Tyrcz came to our shop with a hammer, frightening the staff and customers. It is also about the banner hanging on our wall, whose content we do not agree with.
The court must decide. We do not intend to retaliate. We do not know how long this case will last. We are in constant contact with our lawyers.
Bogusław Tyrcz, owner of the Ceramics Centre on Kościuszki Street in Bolesławiec, explained to the istotne.pl service that the entire matter had been agreed upon with both the lawyer and the Ceramic Brotherhood. The barrier is intended to warn customers of Vena’s shop so that they do not fall on the steps. It will remain in place until the court issues its ruling.
