Vandals are not letting up, including during the pre-election period. Someone destroyed the campaign banner of Szymon Hołownia, a journalist, commentator and independent candidate in the election for President of the Republic of Poland.
The perpetrator or perpetrators must reckon with serious consequences. The Code of Petty Offences states:
Article 67 § 1. Anyone who intentionally damages or removes a notice displayed publicly by a state or local government institution or a social organisation, or otherwise intentionally prevents people from becoming acquainted with such a notice, is subject to arrest or a fine.
The latter may amount to as much as PLN 5,000.
