At Readers’ request, we are returning to the case from 2018. As we have established, the trial of Władysław C., whom the District Prosecutor’s Office accused last spring of sexually molesting a minor, is under way.
The trial itself has already begun, but no verdict has yet been delivered, which is related to the coronavirus pandemic. C. faces between six months and as many as eight years in prison.
(The case is being heard by the District Court in Bolesławiec).
Let us recall. In mid-January 2019, we reported that, at the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, a man who was then 59 and suspected of sexually molesting a minor was detained and subsequently arrested.
The investigation established that the crimes took place between January and June 2018. The victim was a 17-year-old student at a Bolesławiec secondary school, where Władysław C. worked as a teacher.
Investigators reported at the time:
Using unlawful threats and violence, the suspect repeatedly caused her to submit to other sexual acts. He also allegedly deprived her of her freedom for short periods. In committing the offence, he exploited the relationship of dependence between him and the victim.
On 10 January 2019, the man was detained and brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, where he was charged and questioned. The suspect did not plead guilty.
The Prosecutor’s Office asked the court to remand the man in temporary custody for three months. The request was granted.
The investigators later requested an extension of C.’s detention. However, the court did not agree.
