On 3 April, at the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, the court remanded in custody for three months a resident of Bolesławiec County who had abused his family. – 45-year-old Zbigniew C. was detained on 1 April 2020. As established, from September 2019 the man physically and psychologically abused his wife and minor children. Under the influence of alcohol, he started arguments – prosecutor Tomasz Czułowski, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, reports. – Moreover, the man threatened to kill his wife and to burn down their shared home.

On 1 April, C. threatened his family with an axe and damaged equipment around the house.

The suspect did not plead guilty. He is a repeat offender. T. Czułowski:

In 2017, he was convicted of abusing his wife and given a suspended sentence, which was subsequently ordered to be served. The man served his sentence under electronic monitoring.

C. faces between three months and as much as 7.5 years in prison.

On 8 April, again at the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, the court ordered three months’ remand in custody for Józef K. (in the header photo), who was accused of persistent harassment and threats against a female victim.

Prosecutor T. Czułowski:

The suspect engaged in such conduct from February 2018 to February 2020. The man harassed the victim with repeated phone calls and text messages and visited her home, causing her to feel threatened.

On 11 February 2020 in Bolesławiec, Józef K. publicly insulted the victim and threatened to kill her, waving an axe in her direction. He was detained at that time and subsequently hospitalized.

K. is also a repeat offender; in 2010, he was convicted of a similar crime (although it involved a different victim) and of causing a fire. The man was sentenced to eight years in prison. (He completed his sentence in 2017).

Józef K., now 56, faces up to 4.5 years in prison.
