The tragedy occurred today after 3:00 p.m. Two teenagers were swimming in a settling pond near Warta Bolesławiecka. One of them, who probably could not swim, moved away from the shore. He had empty bottles filled with air with him, which helped him stay on the surface. At one point, he began to drown. As people who arrived at the scene of the tragedy told us, the other boy tried to help his friend. However, he was unable to keep hold of him. The boy drowned in a spot where the pond is two metres deep.
Divers from Legnica were called to locate the boy's body. At around 6:20 p.m., firefighters pulled the body ashore.
