We are publicizing the case at the request of our Reader, who wrote:

I am having a problem returning to my family, whom I have not seen for over a year. The officials at our municipal office are ignoring my emails, so I am asking your editorial office for help!

The point is that, being in England for obvious reasons (money), I lost my documents and am stranded abroad! I found out that my identity card is at the municipal office, but only I can collect it. But how????? I asked for permission for my sister to collect the document, but I did not receive permission—indeed, I received no response at all.

Employees of the Organizational, Civil Affairs and Social Affairs Department of the Bolesławiec Municipal Office explain that an identity card must be collected in person. – The application for this document must also be submitted in person. We cannot make exceptions. The regulations are the same for everyone – the officials explain.

In their view, there is only one solution: our Reader should ask the Polish consulate for help. The office may issue a temporary passport, which will allow the man to return to the country.

We will return to the matter.
