Four people were killed in a tragic road accident that occurred on Friday (March 20) on voivodeship road no. 296, between Czerwona Woda and Węgliniec (Zgorzelec County). A BMW passenger car left the road and struck a tree. The victims were two men and two women, aged between 20 and 30.

Emergency medical teams, firefighters and police officers were at the scene. Unfortunately, no one could be saved. The road was blocked for almost the entire night. It is now passable.

Zgorzelec police on Friday’s tragedy:

Police officers, including a forensic technician and an accident reconstruction expert, worked at the scene under the supervision of a prosecutor. According to preliminary findings, a 27-year-old resident of Lubań County lost control of the vehicle, drove into a ditch and struck a tree. Four young people were traveling in the car and, unfortunately, died at the scene as a result of their injuries.

The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes of the tragedy. Officers:

Police officers once again appeal to all road users to exercise caution and prudence on the road and to drive at a speed adapted not only to the road signs but, above all, to the conditions on the road.
