Let us recall: the fire broke out on Saturday at around 4:30 a.m. The flames destroyed the attic and one of the walls of the building on Pod Lasem Street. None of the occupants was injured.

After the incident, the house’s residents and their neighbors had no doubt that it had been arson. Several years ago, Józef K., a resident of Nowogrodziec municipality, started a fire in the same building. He was convicted for it. He was released from prison recently.

On Saturday, police detained 45-year-old Józef K. “There was a suspicion that he was probably the person who had set fire to the building again,” Regina Haniszewska, deputy district prosecutor, told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. “There is evidence in this case making it probable that this is indeed what happened,” she added.

The man did not plead guilty. The entire case has a personal background. As we managed to establish, the 45-year-old sent threatening letters to the building’s residents. Among other things, he threatened to commit suicide.

The court remanded the man in custody for three months. The 45-year-old is awaiting trial in detention in Wrocław. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
