Another storm passed over Bolesławiec County. Heavy rainfall was accompanied by hurricane-force winds and lightning. The elements caused extensive damage. The wind brought down many trees. On Leśna Street, a tree branch fell onto a utility pole and tore down a power line. On Willowa Street, water washed away the embankment on the side of the Biedronka supermarket.
A brick embankment collapsed into the stream flowing through the area. Water from the stream flooded a garden. Firefighters used an excavator to clear the stream and prevent further flooding. The water managed to flood a workshop and the cellars of a nearby building. The parking lot on the side of the supermarket was also undermined.
The gale also brought down a tree growing next to the railway viaduct (Dolne Młyny Street). The tree fell onto a streetlight, which then fell onto the roof of a nearby bar. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Several people suffered minor injuries as a result of the storm and required medical assistance. Several dozen cellars were flooded. Many roads were impassable, including the A-18 motorway and the road toward Zielona Góra. By 10:00 p.m., the fire service had removed about 60 fallen trees from the roads. Firefighters also pumped water out of around 30 flooded buildings. The situation is now slowly returning to normal. However, many households still have no electricity. Firefighters continue to receive reports of trees and branches obstructing vehicle traffic, as well as flooded garages and cellars.
