Left MP Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska and Jolanta Kwaśniewska attended the opening of the Grandparents’ Corner in Legnica, at the Social Welfare Home on Grabskiego Street. The corner was created with the support of Jolanta Kwaśniewska’s “Porozumienie bez Barier” Foundation.
At one point during the ceremony, while speaking about Jolanta Kwaśniewska, MP Sekuła-Szmajdzińska addressed her:
I do not want to refer to politics, but I have to say this. You are a role model for me… of a first lady, and perhaps also… of a president.

In mid-December, when asked by Beata Lubecka of Radio Zet whether she would run in the presidential election, Jolanta Kwaśniewska replied:
No, absolutely not. (...) My story connected with the presidency ended on December 23, 2005, and that is how it will remain.

Left-wing politicians say they have already chosen a presidential candidate. However, they will officially make the name public only on January 19.
According to a poll by the Pollster Research Institute for “Super Express” conducted 12 months ago, Jolanta Kwaśniewska, the former first lady, had the best chances in a presidential election if voters were to choose a woman.
