The accident occurred at night. On Route 4, at the famous Bend of Death before Czerna, the driver of a Volkswagen Golf travelling from the direction of Zgorzelec apparently began overtaking. He collided head-on with a truck approaching from the direction of Bolesławiec. An ambulance took the driver from the scene of the accident to hospital. Both vehicles—the Volkswagen and the truck—had registration plates from Wrocław.
Exactly one week ago, one person died in an accident at the same location. In May, three people were injured in a collision between another Volkswagen and a truck. A year ago, in April, a married couple and their child died at this location.
The bend where accidents occur is already called the Bend of Death by many people. There is a cemetery right next to the site. Unfortunately, candles are being lit by the roadside more and more often, where accidents have occurred. Some of our readers believe that the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways should install a “black spot” sign and investigate why this bend is dangerous. We will return to the matter.
