The tragedy occurred on Thursday, December 12, at kilometer 68 of DK18, in the direction of Wrocław. A Renault van crashed into the trailer of a heavy goods vehicle that had been standing partially on the shoulder and partially in the traffic lane since midday, marked due to a breakdown.
A woman traveling in the van, a 36-year-old Ślązaczka, died as a result of the collision. The van driver, a 21-year-old from Małopolska, was taken to hospital. It turned out that he had a broken arm.
Traffic on DK18 toward Wrocław was blocked. The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes of the accident.

On December 12 at 4:36 p.m., we were dispatched to a road accident at kilometer 68 of national road no. 18, in the direction of Wrocław. Upon arriving at the scene, it turned out that a delivery vehicle carrying two people had crashed into the rear of the trailer of a heavy goods vehicle that was standing on the shoulder. […]
Three crews and an operations group from the State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit in Bolesławiec, a crew from the Świętoszów Military Fire Service, two emergency medical teams and two police patrols also took part in the operation. The police investigative team and our crew are still working at the scene.
