From June 15 to 21, the European Veterans’ Table Tennis Championships were held in the Croatian city of Poreć. More than 2,500 players took part. Bolesławiec resident Remigiusz Kacperczyk put in a very successful performance. In the doubles competition, the popular “Grandpa,” together with Henryk Myrce from Kraków, won a bronze medal.
In the singles competitions, the TOP Bolesławiec player defeated two Germans and a Frenchman, which earned him a place among the 64 best players at the championships. Kacperczyk was eliminated only in the fight for advancement to the group of the tournament’s 32 best players.
Besides the sporting competition, the Bolesławiec resident promoted his city. Since Remigiusz Kacperczyk’s trip to Croatia was co-financed by the Municipal Commune of Bolesławiec, the TOP player decided to return the favor. The Bolesławiec resident handed out promotional leaflets and gadgets about Bolesławiec to championship participants.
