The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 9, at Wrocław Airport. Border guards patrolling the terminal noticed a man behaving loudly, throwing his luggage around and waving his arms.

The traveler would neither follow the officers’ instructions nor calm down. In addition, he said:

Let me give you a number: there is a BOMB on this plane.

Then he added:

If I don’t fly to Bristol, no one will.

The officers smelled alcohol on the 43-year-old man. The would-be traveler became increasingly aggressive and used vulgar language toward the guards. (As it later turned out, he was drunk; his blood alcohol level was above one per mille).

The 43-year-old was detained and then, at the prosecutor’s request, temporarily remanded in custody for two months by the Wrocław District Court.

Let us recall: causing a false bomb alarm may result in a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
