The guiding principle of the outgoing term was solving allotment holders’ problems together with local governments – both in terms of modernisation and the operation of allotment gardens. The internal integration of allotment holders also played an important role, as did the belief that “we will not waste any opportunity for allotment gardening to survive another century, remembering that future generations of allotment holders will come after us.”

Among the invited guests was Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman, who highlighted the extraordinary role and tradition of the more than 120-year-old allotment movement in Poland, as well as the importance of a garden in every sphere of human life – private, social, ecological and often economic. It is worth mentioning on this occasion that two days earlier, the Bolesławiec mayor had been presented with another “For Merit to ROD” badge. This year’s distinction was awarded by ROD “Relaks”.

A traditional part of the congress was awarding “Meritorious Allotment Holder” badges to activists and presenting letters of thanks to ROD presidents who, having attended the Congress, ended their service as presidents.

The presidents of Bolesławiec’s allotment gardens were also among those honoured. More at www.boleslawiec.eu.
