Surely everyone interested in politics follows the opinion polls on support for political parties that appear from time to time. All the polls show PiS in the lead.

I wonder why this is so. Is the opposition weak, or does it simply lack an attractive programme to encourage voters to support it? Where is the weak point that will prevent Civic Platform from winning the elections? Could it be the weakness of the leader of Civic Platform, who is unable to create a good programme?

Watching the growing number of parties joining forces with PO because their leaders are afraid that otherwise they will not enter the Sejm, I have come to the conclusion that this is probably not a good strategy. A party’s strength is not built with weaklings. I think that in this case the saying that a team is only as strong as its weakest link may prove true. Is Civic Platform facing a painful awakening? The words that come to mind when thinking about the opposition to PiS are: blandness, lack of distinctiveness and character, or the very visible confusion of late. It looks a little like thrashing about before the elections, and there is probably fear that the elections are approaching. Does the opposition have any chance of winning the elections? In the voter’s opinion—even that of someone reading this column—can anything threaten the ruling party?

Other parties or coalitions, rather exotic to me, such as Kukiz 15 with PSL (not long ago, the leader of Kukiz 15 spoke of PSL as a criminal group), reinforce my belief that it does not matter with whom or where, as long as they manage to get into the Sejm. Wiosna joining forces with the left is another strange alliance that will probably take votes away from Civic Platform’s coalition. I wonder what the ordinary Kowalski thinks while watching television and assessing what is happening around him.
