A person wishing to join the ranks of Border Guard officers must be a Polish citizen, must not have a criminal record, and must have at least secondary education.

It is important that the candidate be ready to submit to a special form of discipline and possess the appropriate physical and psychological capacity for service.

After successfully completing the qualification procedure (including an interview, psychological tests, a polygraph examination, general knowledge tests, and physical fitness tests), a new recruit undergoes basic and non-commissioned officer training at one of the Border Guard training centers.

After completing their training, new officers can expect a net salary of PLN 3,200. In 2020, a gross increase of PLN 500 was planned.

An undeniable advantage for an officer is acquiring pension rights after 25 years of service.
