We wrote at the beginning of January about the tragedy that occurred on New Year's Eve in Tomisław (Osiecznica commune). An 80-year-old female cyclist was struck by a passenger car. The woman died at the scene.
As it turned out, 26-year-old Sławomir S., a resident of Osieczów, was driving under the influence of drugs. He probably smoked marijuana. “The experts’ opinion indicates that he must have taken the drug several hours before the accident,” Rafał Gruca, vice-president of the District Court in Bolesławiec, told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal.
On Wednesday, June 3, the court placed the man in temporary custody for one month. The 26-year-old is awaiting trial in the detention center in Lubań. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
