In the past school year alone, 4,270 students from 44 schools, including private schools, took part in the competitions. During the gala at the Old Theatre, 147 winners were awarded.
The competitions are held in cooperation with teachers and school principals, with the approval of all local-government authorities in the county. The competitions were created by: Krystyna Raszka, Jerzy Janowicz, Zdzisław Zarzycki, Tadeusz Orawiec, Beata and Piotr Chmielikowie, Agnieszka Szulc-Jednoróg, Katarzyna Szymczykowska. Students’ work is assessed by: Monika Grygorcewicz, Barbara Piękny, Grażyna Ott, Marta Butrymowicz, Katarzyna Zięba, Wojciech Potoczniak, Anna Chabiniak.
“We have survived two education reforms and, most recently, a teachers’ strike, but regardless of everything, we must continue supporting talented young people,” said Cezariusz Rudyk, director of PCEiKK. “This is one of the reasons why PCEiKK intends to apply for accreditation from the education authorities, in order to give the remaining competitions a voivodeship-wide status. At present, the mathematics competition and the Art Knowledge Tournament have this rank.
Success in a competition is above all the result of a student’s talent and work. It is also thanks to the teachers who guide them and the parents who encourage them. They all deserve thanks and congratulations.
