The competition jury consisted of: Małgorzata Plis-Lozer, Laura Słocka-Przydróżna and Józef Gawart. They had a difficult but tasty task. It took an hour to taste the dishes and choose the one that received the highest number of points. The jury was most impressed by the culinary expertise shown in the dishes prepared by the Women’s Rural Housewives’ Associations from Osła (first place), Czerna (second place) and Zebrzydowa (third place). The remaining associations received honourable mentions.
Easter eggs and Easter palms were judged separately. The most beautiful Easter Palm was made by the women of the Women’s Rural Housewives’ Association from Różyniec; the women from Osła took second place, while third place went to those from Kraśnik Dolny, Łaziska and Kraśnik Górny. The palms were judged by a jury consisting of: Renata Czerwińska, Danuta Kędzierska and Elżbieta Fularz.
The arrangement of the festive tables and the way the dishes were served were equally important in the competition. The women unanimously confirm that all dishes must be prepared from natural ingredients, preferably locally produced. And nothing may go to waste. This is also part of Polish tradition; especially during the period before the new harvest, every crumb of bread must be treated with reverence.
The Women’s Rural Housewives’ Associations stand guard over tradition. Their numbers continue to grow, with granddaughters and daughters taking the place of grandmothers and mothers, drawing on their knowledge and recipes. It is heartening that men are increasingly active in the associations.
