The incident occurred on Friday, January 25, after 12:00 p.m. A fire broke out in the unused attic of a terraced building on Dolne Młyny Street in Bolesławiec. Smoke was coming from beneath the roof tiles.
The fire covered approximately 150 square metres. The vapor barrier film and roof truss burned. A considerable number of roof tiles collapsed. Firefighters had to dismantle part of the roof because the scorched rafters continued to pose a fire risk.
Fortunately, no one was hurt. The officers also did not have to evacuate anyone.
The apartments located beneath the attic will probably be unusable for some time because water seeped into them through the ceilings.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Several fire service units from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, two volunteer fire service units, the police, a medical rescue team, as well as gas and power emergency services took part in the operation.
