On Saturday, BKS Bobrzanie played a derby against Karkonosze Jelenia Góra. The match attracted a record crowd. Fans from the Bolesławiec Supporters’ Club appeared at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street. The match generated excitement because supporters from Jelenia Góra were expected to attend.
Bolesławiec took the lead in the 11th minute. After a goalkeeper’s mistake, Tomasz Jasiński put the ball into the net. Six minutes later, Paweł Rissmann fired a dangerous shot at the Karkonosze goal. However, the visitors’ goalkeeper managed to save it. Shortly afterwards, the players from Jelenia Góra took control of the game. First, in the 20th minute, Daniel Buszta sent a dangerous header toward goal. A few minutes later, Konrad Kogut sent the ball over the crossbar of the BKS goal. In the closing minutes of the match, Bolesławiec scored a second goal, but the referee disallowed it, claiming that the ball had crossed the end line earlier. The first half ended with BKS leading 1:0.
Just before halftime, a bus carrying fans from Jelenia Góra arrived outside the stadium. However, Karkonosze supporters were not allowed onto the stadium grounds. The fans were shown a letter from the DZPN Disciplinary Department. Supporters from Jelenia Góra are banned from attending their team’s away matches (we wrote about this in the match preview).
The ban was imposed after a match in Świebodzice, where fans from Jelenia Góra ran onto the pitch. The penalty remains in force until the end of the 2008/2009 season. In addition, host clubs will also be fined if they violate the ban and allow supporters from Jelenia Góra into their stadiums. Karkonosze supporters were allowed to leave the bus only briefly. The fans did not want to accept the DZPN’s decision. They loudly chanted “Football for the fans” and supported their team for several minutes from behind the stadium wall. Everything took place under police supervision. After several minutes of chanting, the Jelenia Góra bus and its supporters departed under police escort in the direction of Jelenia Góra.
In the second half, BKS had several chances to score. In the 47th minute, Tomasz Jasiński passed too softly to Robert Nitarski, and Bolesławiec lost the ball in the visitors’ penalty area. In the 61st minute, Karkonosze equalized. Marcin Krupa was credited with the goal. BKS attacked, but our players’ finishing was ineffective. Losing the ball in the visitors’ penalty area, inaccurate play and a lack of shots “came back to haunt” the team in the 68th minute. Łukasz Kusiak scored Karkonosze’s second goal. In the 85th minute, Mateusz Janczyszyn had a chance to equalize, but his shot hit the post. Despite the support from BKS Bobrzanie’s fans, BKS Bobrzanie lost 1:2 to Karkonosze Jelenia Góra.
