On November 20, the District Court in Jelenia Góra issued a verdict in the case concerning incidents that took place on December 19, 2016, in Jelenia Góra during a visit by Minister of National Education Anna Zalewska to the Karkonoska State University.
The court found Agnieszka G. guilty of violating the bodily integrity of two people in connection with their intervention undertaken for safety reasons, and discontinued the proceedings concerning the insulting of one of them due to the statute of limitations having expired.
The court held that the defendant was unaware that the people she attacked were police officers; consequently, it changed the legal classification adopted in the indictment with regard to offences committed against public officials.
The court conditionally discontinued the proceedings against the defendant for a probation period of one year.
The court also held that the offence of insulting a public official, namely Minister Anna Zalewska, attributed to Zbigniew U.—by using a phrase commonly regarded as offensive—constituted a minor offence in the form of indecent conduct, and fined him PLN 200.
Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office:
