Saturday’s match clearly belonged to BKS Bolesławiec. Our team dominated for practically the entire game and deservedly claimed all three points. The match began at a sluggish pace, with scoring chances few and far between. Both teams focused on defending and protecting access to their own goal. Our team had more of the play, but this did not translate into danger in Włókniarz Mirsk’s penalty area.
In the 27th minute, Adrian Kulesza came close to putting BKS Bolesławiec ahead, but the ball struck by our player went just wide of the hosts’ goal. This chance lifted our players, who began appearing in the opponents’ penalty area more and more often. In the 34th minute, Eryk Kliwak delivered an excellent cross into the penalty area. The ball reached Adrian Kulesza, who put BKS Bolesławiec 1–0 up with a precise header. Conceding did not spur Włókniarz Mirsk into action; apart from several inaccurate shots from outside the penalty area, they had great difficulty threatening our goal. The score did not change before half-time, and we went into the dressing room leading 1–0.
The picture of the game did not change significantly after the break. Searching for an equaliser, the hosts left more space at the back, giving our attack plenty of room to operate. In the 51st minute, Adrian Kulesza made a good run down the left, but the BKS Bolesławiec striker’s shot was saved by the Włókniarz Mirsk goalkeeper. In the 60th minute, we scored a second goal, making all three points a realistic prospect. Mateusz Mucha sent a corner into the area, and a home defender glanced the ball on with his head. The ball fell perfectly to Sławomir Dul, who put BKS Bolesławiec 2–0 up with a first-time shot.
Włókniarz Mirsk’s determined players tried to score a consolation goal, but our team clearly dominated on the day. Before the end of the match, we also had an excellent chance to extend our lead, but Filip Zagórski’s shot hit the crossbar and we were left disappointed. Towards the end of the match, Włókniarz Mirsk could have scored a consolation goal, but the opponent’s shot was brilliantly saved by Kacper Różnicki, who was standing in our goal.
The score did not change again before the final whistle, and we ultimately won 2–0. It is worth noting that, after several months away, Krzysztof Janicki appeared for BKS in the match in Mirsk. This was quite a surprise for the supporters of the team from Spółdzielcza. Popular Jajo, known for his reliability, has been associated with BKS for a very long time, and the team can always count on him. This was the first match since BKS’s most recent promotion to the fourth division in which Jajo played.
Saturday’s BKS Bolesławiec victory was fully deserved. After their last two defeats, our players showed character and claimed all three points on a difficult ground. Włókniarz Mirsk’s players also deserve applause for their determined performance, but on this day they had to acknowledge BKS Bolesławiec’s superiority. Our team’s next match will be against Orla Wąsosz (29 September, 4:00 p.m.).
